A Personal Touch with Local Artisans
Owner Nikki Connaughton, a Palm Beach native with a rich background in business and photography, is passionate about supporting local artists. In an interview, she expressed her love for local businesses, saying, “I love local businesses.”
Featuring artwork from her sister and photography by her mother, Nikki’s boutique will also host pop-up events, spotlighting women-led businesses from both the local community and across the nation.
“It’s just going to be really fun, refreshing and feminine, with bright colors. It’s just different from the typical Palm Beach home store, and just something very relaxed and enjoyable.”
A Journey to Launch
Nikki’s journey to open this boutique wasn’t driven purely by her love for design; it was also a personal quest to create value in her life. After leaving her role at Walter Zabriskie Furniture, where she managed operations for six years, Nikki traveled to Bali alongside her sister. This trip allowed them to source unique furniture items slated to arrive this December, just in time for the boutique’s soft opening.
“Once the container arrives, we’ll be up and running. It’s very exciting!”
A Prime Location
The Nix Palm Beach’s location is strategic, sitting adjacent to the gourmet French restaurant La Goulue. Nikki believes that the positioning will enhance foot traffic and bring more visibility to her shop. “I feel like we’re in the heart of Palm Beach,” she shared, excited about the bustling atmosphere surrounding her new business.
The Nix Palm Beach brings a unique shopping experience to the area.
With The Palm House set to open across the street, the neighborhood is expected to thrive with shoppers looking for both leisure and luxury.
A Vision for the Future
Nikki has greater ambitions for The Nix than merely serving as a retail outlet. She envisions it as a destination for customers to shop, relax, and experience a curated selection of both fashion and furniture. She is committed to traveling often, sourcing unique items from around the globe to ensure her inventory remains distinctive.
“I want to do everything from pillows to table linens and beyond. I really just want to travel to unique places and just have something that’s totally unique to myself and to Palm Beach.”
The boutique plans to cater to custom order requests, especially for handmade furniture, emphasizing the incorporation of both fashion and functional design.
Open Every Day
Initially, The Nix Palm Beach will operate seven days a week, albeit with reduced hours on Sundays. Nikki’s plan to blend fashion and furnishings into a one-stop-shop is an exciting development for the local shopping scene.
With her distinct vision and community focus, Nikki Connaughton is poised to make The Nix Palm Beach not just a store, but a lively hub of creativity and style in Palm Beach. As she eloquently put it, “It’s just going to be the one-stop shop for everything you need.”
