As a Sonos user myself, I’ve been feeling the pain of the company’s new app. The redesign, which launched in May, has been met with tons of bad ratings on the App Store. I’m not alone in my frustration - the app’s performance issues and confusing UI have made it a chore to use.

Recently, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence apologized for the rocky launch, and now the company is considering bringing back the old version of the app. According to a report by The Verge, there have been discussions high up within Sonos about reviving the prior version of the app, known as S2. This move would be a welcome change for many users who have been struggling with the new app.

I’ve been using the new app for a few months now, and I have to say that it’s been a frustrating experience. The app looks nice, but it’s just not functional. Simple tasks like unpairing speakers have become cumbersome and annoying. I’ve also had issues with my Sonos Beam pairing with my Sonos Era 100 speakers.

I’m not against using the new Sonos app, and I appreciate the updates that have been made to improve its performance. However, I would definitely welcome a return to the old version. As the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” In this case, Sonos has learned the hard way that sometimes it’s better to stick with what works.
