As a long-time fan of Borussia Dortmund, I never thought I’d run into one of my idols at the local supermarket. But that’s exactly what happened to one lucky customer at a Rewe store in Herdecke, Germany. The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, was shopping with his child when he stumbled upon none other than BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Gregor Kobel takes a break from football to pick up some groceries
As the customer approached the sausage counter, he couldn’t believe his eyes. There, standing in front of him, was the Swiss goalkeeper, sporting his BVB training gear. The customer, being a huge fan, couldn’t resist asking for a photo with Kobel. To his surprise, the goalkeeper happily agreed.
The photo, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Kobel smiling alongside the customer and his child. The customer’s Facebook post, which has garnered hundreds of likes and comments, reads: “Who would have thought you’d run into your idol at Rewe?”
While many fans were thrilled to see Kobel taking time out of his busy schedule to interact with fans, others were more critical. Some commented that the goalkeeper should be left alone to do his shopping in peace, without being bothered for photos.
Shopping is a necessary part of life, even for football stars
As a fan myself, I can understand both sides of the argument. On the one hand, it’s great to see footballers taking time out to interact with their fans. On the other hand, everyone deserves some time to themselves, especially when they’re just trying to do their grocery shopping.
What do you think? Should footballers be left alone to do their shopping, or is it okay to ask for a photo or autograph? Let us know in the comments.
In other news, Rewe has been making headlines recently for its affordable prices and wide selection of products. Whether you’re a football star or just a regular customer, Rewe has something for everyone.
